Chris Galbraith

GM Marina & Maritime
Chris Galbraith has been with Far North Holdings since its inception 17 years ago.

Now, as general manager, Chris is responsible for the daily operation of the Maritime and Marina Assets the company owns and operate. 
Prior to Far North Holdings, Chris worked at the Far North District Council (FNDC) as group manager customer services, leading pivotal projects like the development of Kerikeri's Procter Library.

As FNDC executive officer, he managed various development initiatives and strategic planning efforts.  Chris's career has also included marketing, system upgrades and relationship banking at ANZ Bank. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is a Certified Marina Manager and Chair of NZMOA.

Daniel Alexander

Marina Manager
Daniel joined Far North Holdings in 2022 and now manages the operations at Bay of Islands Marina. Prior to this role, he was Operations Manager for both Bay of Islands and Kaitaia Airports, where he honed his skills in managing complex facilities and delivering outstanding service.
​
With a background in engineering, maintenance, and airport operations, Daniel holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from AUT. This technical expertise, combined with his leadership experience, ensures the marina operates to the highest standards.
​
Daniel is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring both seasoned customers and first-time visitors feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

Rhys Dempster

Boatyard Manager
Rhys is responsible for the day to day running of the Boatyard here at the Marina.

With a lifelong connection to
the water and a strong community spirit, Rhys actively contributes to various club committees, notably the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club.

His background as a New Zealand Police member and Senior Customs Officer has
equipped him with expertise in systems and safety, along with a collaborative approach that
benefits the entire Boatyard team.

Always ready for a friendly conversation, Rhys is
dedicated to helping boaties get what they need so they can get back out to enjoy the water.

OUR COMMUNITY

On arrival the team will direct you to your berth and lend a hand with the necessary paperwork before providing you with and brief orientation of marina facilities and the surrounding area.

We pride ourselves on welcoming you to our community. 

 

All of our team members are locals, they have witnessed the growth of the marina precinct over the years and can provide you with a wide range of local knowledge.

As a key part of our local community we are committed to ensuring everyone can enjoy and benefit from our beautiful location, whether it's marine industry businesses working from the boatyard, or those using the Bay of Islands for kai or recreation, we are dedicated to ensuring this crucial coastal access and infrastructure is available to serve everyone.

When awarded the NZMOA Boatyard of The Year 2024 judges recognised and praised not only the boatyards crucial role in Northland’s economy, maritime community but also its distinct team culture.
