Everyone wants to do their part to keep New Zealand’s 15,000 kilometres of coastline pristine.
Bay of Islands Marina is a member of the Clean Marina Programme and aims to provide berth holders and visitors with a fantastic and ‘green’ experience whilst in the marina.
What is the Clean Marina Programme?
The Clean Marina initiative is a voluntary programme promoted by NZMOA (New Zealand Marina Operators Association) that encourages marina operators and recreational boaters to protect coastal water quality by engaging in environmentally sound business and operational practices. The Clean Marina Programme is a partnership between industry, local and central government and the general boating fraternity. NZMOA offers information, guidance, and technical assistance to marina operators, local governments, and recreational boaters on Best Management Practices (BMP’s) that can be used to prevent or reduce pollution.
For more information go to www.cleanmarinas.org.nz.
The Clean Marina programme identifies opportunities and best management practices to control pollution associated with:
- Marina Operations
- Boatyard Operations
- Fuelling Operations
- Maintenance Programmes
- Facility Management
- Emergency Planning
- Environmental Management
- Environmental Education
Individually you can do your part by following the Clean Boating Programme.
